Due to technical difficulties with my  phone camera, I  apologise for the low-quality& dodgy picture...lol. It will be better from tomorrow onwards by faith!

Since it was the last session of my Business Academy Classes at Daystar Church (DBA Program), I was inspired to wear one of my favourite colours purple,(red is my 2nd favourite).

I'm proud of myself that I committed to something for 6weeks and I followed through with it; means things are getting better in my life. Next program which I can't wait for is the Leadership Academy (DLA) which starts in May! Recommend it for any Future Leader of Tomorrow.

Laid-back Fridays calls for a tank top and a pair of comfy jeans to attend my appointment for the day. Note: This can be worn to work on Fridays since it is dress-down day, but I don't get a chance to because of NYSC programme which falls on Fridays for me.
Magically, I discovered today by weighing myself that even though I have been consuming all sorts in the past week or 2; my weight seems to be dropping???? Without any exercise and bad eating habits....This must be some sort of Miracle for me...Thank God! Pray this phenomena continues.

The Feet of youths serving their country! Unlike traditional Friday CD days, once a month is general CD and it usually falls on Thursday depending on your CD group. So once again, I get to rock my sexy jungle boots and hang with my friends and greet my new friend (Local Govt inspector lady)...Congrats to my Batch A friends who just made it through camp!

Short dress & jacket rule applies today. A touch of blue mixed with yellow and a black blazer for Comfy Wednesdays! Needed a bright color today to cheer myself up before doom day tomorrow (extraction at the dentist), not looking forward to it. It is Well with Me!

Guess who finally wears a formal shirt to work after a month.....MEEEEEEEEEEEEE! I'm not a huge fan of long sleeve office shirts, I would rather the short sleeve chiffon shirts which is formal yet stylish. The expression on my face cracks even myself up (God knows what I was thinking, but I'm definitely feeling my pout)lol. Even though the dentist tried to dampen my spirit this morning by promising me an extraction this week....All i can say is...It is Well!!!!

Good Sunday. Attended the Wedding Expo event after church (enjoyed the freebies),then the salon to fix my hair, which all I did was wash it while it was on my head (couldn't be bothered to remove and re-fix,hence the faster option) then some birthday party stuffs....FOOD(I won't be found wanting whenever it involves good food). Since it was a family function, no need to be too dressy so a black shirt, blue jeans and a pair of nude heels and I'm Good to Go!
P.S: I would smile one day in pictures (in the future).

I made it to Nysc CD today...Yayyy!!!This is the Full Nysc kit (boots not showing) which we only wore in camp for orientation and would wear again during passing out parade. Every other CD day at local govt, a regular white t-shirt would be worn, no nysc inscribed and no cap!
Special recommendation: Watch the movie "3 Idiots" its an indian movie, which i saw today and it made me laugh and cry at the same time...made my weekend really and I learnt a few things from the movie.

According to the dates, today is my 1month blog anniversary...yayyyyy me! When I cant be bothered to dress to work, a pencil skirt and a short sleeve shirt can save the day, and it did today! No point tucking in the tee so the fact that the waist is not as fitting as i want it; is not as obvious.

No 1 rule i abide by; never wear patterned on patterned; even if it is tie on a shirt or top on a skirt or a shirt on trousers, NEVER! It makes you look confused. Mix plain with patterned always. Plain black satin top combined with my green floral skirt and its simple, yet in-between dressy and formal (i think)

There is nothing wrong with my face but our darling photographer suggested I use this picture as I never change my signature pose. Monday is the one day I put zero effort in dressing because i'm usually grumpy to get up early and try on clothes. This skirt is supposed to be a high waist skirt (i think) but my waist/hips ratio means my skirts are usually big for me at the waist but fit well below. This is why i'm considering having customised tailor-made skirts that will fit perfectly. Wearing a simple teal coloured top to go with my grey skirt today.

As dramatic as this picture seems, it was totally unplanned!!! I don't even know what I was thinking of or doing but I decided instead of having the same pose in all my pics; I should use this picture.
Very laid back Sunday it is so very comfy long skirt and a tank top did the trick. I could wear this to the beach as well if I have no plans of playing by the water (which is never the case), could also wear a maxi dress or small shorts and a tank top to the beach. Today was for catching-up with the girls and making it up to B for missing her birthday yesterday and eating yummy red velvet birthday cake.

Once again, I had to update a bit late. I had to go swimming this morning (longest hour of my day) especially because swimming was fun when I was a kid and didn't care if I had a flat stomach or my hair getting wet but now it is a big deal!. Couldn't make my darling Bisola's bday(HBD My Love) due to my DBA class going longer than planned but I will surely make it up to her 2mo, especially to take part in the sumptuous cakes she displayed on her dp.
I was dressed to pass through my girls house + attend class; so a comfy pair of grey jeans and a colour block top. (Note: My choice of the colour block top is one that makes my skin look brighter and  toned). Know what colours suits u and stick to them; I repeat!

I sincerely apologise for the delay in posting today's blog as I have been stuck at home all day with no light (phcn went mad today) hence no internet (swift 4G which is good but only works with light).
Due to peer pressure and not being mobile, I decided to not bother myself with Nysc CD this week (would stop skipping and be a good citizen but we honestly don't do much every week except get blackened by the sun). So instead of my Nysc mugshot, I decided on a yellow dress-top with footless tights. I only had to run a quick errand at the back of my house so I didn't see the point over dressing. Some girls wear footless tights with short tops which I personally think is silly because its quite transparent and there have been cases of guys getting more than just a preview (lmaooo) but that definitely wont be me. Mine is long enough!
Its the weekend and once again, I cant really be bothered. (Lowkey tins)....

My love for chiffon and satin tops has multiplied of late. I'm considering buying some materials and getting a tailor to make me some customized work shirts and even making my own skirts (GG's tailor does an amazing job with her work skirts, would start patronizing him).
I know peach/orange color suits me so I chose this tee to match my fitted skirt. Know what color suits you and what styles suit your body shape. Even for guys, nothing annoys me more than a fat boy in skin jeans or a slim boy in baggy tees.

Yayy! Wednesday my favorite day, simply because tomorrow my weekend starts. Even though I don't have a jacket on to match my dress(some people will call it short, their problem). Since the dress doesn't have a slit at the back, the jacket is not compulsory. Then the top of the dress is fitted and free at the bottom so it's not short and tight (inappropriate for office but fine for some events) and I'm wearing flats so it doesn't look shorter than it is.
Once those conditions are met, it can pass for office wear. The beadwork is stunning, to think my nicest dresses were bought in the randomest stores but I love this one especially cos of the pockets too. And I'm sure some people will miss me in this office after Nysc is over!

Woke up this morning and couldn't make up my mind on what to wear so I ironed 2sets of outfits, usually decide the night before but I slept off about 8pm till 5am this morning (I think the vegetable soup I ate knocked me out, as I have observed recently that it has that effect on me), decided to go for the comfy clothing option. Luckily, I had so much time to myself this morning since I was driving only me to work with no person to rush me; so for the 1st time in weeks I did my makeup in my room and not in the car.
Since the trousers are slim-fit, decided to wear a free top so I don't cause too much distraction at work. My office is filled with men, tons of them. A chunk of them who have left their beloved in some other state they were relocated from or are just happy to scope the young fresh ones but as for me I'm not interested. Have a personal policy against dating my colleague, always separate your work/business and personal life.

Finally, I can upload my pic of the day which my friend held hostage on his phone for a while. My personal skirt and top rule is if its a bright colour top, would match with a dark colour skirt and vice-versa. So Black satin shirt tones down the block colour skirt. As for this hopeless device called a blackberry that magically wiped out every picture,video and song on it, I can only thank God I backed up my phone last night. (Always backup ur phones to your laptop because technology can fail you the same way men can fail u).
Interestingly, my number 1 compliments giver/photographer at the office is back from official duties (yayyyyy)...he always has something to nibble on his office so he was well missed.

I woke up on Saturday feeling my laziest so I read a book/worked on an assignment till I had to attend my class which I highly recommend to anyone who has a Business mindset/wants to go into business. Its called: Daystar Business Academy hosted by Daystar Church. After the program, I spent some quality time with my Ikeja goons for a bit of catching up on our daily lives..they are just the best.
Sunday which is the day this Blog was officially born but I had to first sort out the 3week backlog of daily pictures I had saved on my pc so from tomorrow the 12th of March 2012 it will actually be a daily update.
As I waited for my dear unpunctual friend to pick me up so we could get to church, I realised I had a bit of time to kill, the blog idea which had been on my mind all week suddenly popped back in so I knew it was perfect timing. Blogging is a bit addictive and I have just realised that. It took all the willpower in my cousin and the temptation of cake to drag me out of my bed to attend a birthday function briefly. All the time I was there my mind was on how I was going to finish what I had started (the blog), immediately I got home I ran back to it and decided to postpone my other book reading plans for the day till tomorrow.
This is just a bit of fun for me since I don't really tweet or access Facebook and sometimes torture my BB contacts with unnecessary updates...So this is it; The Life and Times of The Alexandra Barrett....ENJOY!

With a very annoying start to my day thanks to people that like to waste my time in lagos, I decided to not bother rocking my nysc uniform to LG and go straight to my errands for the day with a pink teeshirt and blue jeans and sandals; nothing fancy really.
The day got better when my aunty cooked some delicious vegetable soup which melted all the anger in me (the way to your heart is through your stomach, look at a diagram of your body anatomy).
My new diet I hope to start soon will involve eating a lot of vegetables, less carbs and drinking water instead of Bitter lemon/lucozade/5alive (drink obsessions). I will let you know how well that works for me by next week.
Still going to keep to my promise that from next week I would take a picture everyday regardless. Please bear in mind i'm not a Fashion Trend kind of babe,I just open my wardrobe and imagine that A+B=C so i find A and B

Some people that saw this picture on my dp think I have lost weight, but I disagree. My body is gifted to fit well into a dress and that neckbone of mine knows when to show up at the right time (Big Smiley). No matter how much weight I add or lose im still proudly a 10 and maybe if i start exercising a bit more I would be a Beyonce in no time!!! The cute crop jacket totally matches the dress which is a bit firm at the top and loose at the bottom but still fits nicely.

Something about Wednesday always gets me excited, maybe because its the half of a working week. I was very sceptical about  the skirt which I once again ordered online (no time to be scouting the shops in person) but changed my mind last minute that I could make it work especially with a top that almost shows my Abs (zoom in you will see them hahaha!). The colour combination is inspired by a special somebody (name withheld...busybody is unhealthy)whose favourite colours are been showcased by Moi!

New secret i discovered; if you are going to wear a dress above your knees to work, if you add a jacket it suddenly doesn't look as short, infact it becomes Edgy! (I miss america's next top model show, you learn some valuable things such as how to Smize which is smiling with your eyes and beauty tips). Anyways all day I felt like I was going to be a part of a million dollar signing contract meeting (no i wasn't) but your dressing can lift your spirits and your shoulders up (the way you carry yourself).

My colleague could have sworn there was something different about me today but the only thing I did was decide to pack my hair to the back throughout this week (another advice from those concerned).
I know orange colour suits me because I have milk chocolate skin (not siaking myself) so a nice black skirt to complement it and a simple pearl earring. The beauty of chiffon tops is that they are the best things that happened to Gidi Heat, because you sweat less, even though the AC in my office was proposed for fishes not humans so I have to wear a camisole under.

Didn't do much that involved leaving my room on Saturday except going for my class but on Sunday I finally attended a Wedding (yayyyyyyy been a minute). I had 2 go all the way to almost Lekki Chevron smh! and the annoying friend of mine claims he lives in lekki 1. Note: If its not 1st roundabout where there is a gate that says welcome to lekki 1, you don't live in lekki 1, you can even claim Ajah that will be fine by me.
But i went there expecting it to be the engagement and realised the Huge party thrown in their house was just the Introduction (opens mouth), I can only imagine how huge the engagement and wedding would be if all this was done just to meet the groom's family officially, maybe all the big boys present (Bride's father friends) probably want to make sure the guy was good enough for their princess.
Lagos and Parties sha!!! Any excuse to chop cake and pop champagne...who am I to complain..NEVER!
And Yes my dress was stunning but no pics sadly was too busy enjoying the mad food (as a known Foodie).

To think that I wore a really nice dress today after I changed from my Nysc uniform but with no amazing camera and good photographer to assist and me not remembering to capture that moment. Luckily, some people who saw me that day (including the SLOT staff where I went to fix something) can testify it was a dress worth writing a story about!

I have decided to add some juicy gist from whatever happens in the week on Friday or sometime during the weekend....so look forward to updates about anything or everything that might directly involve me or just happen to be informed about...........WATCH OUT!!!

Today I decided to wear heels to work because they were all gathering dust in my room and I knew it would complement those hips that refuse to lie in that skirt that the designer had me in mind when creating it (blush).
Combined with a purple satin top and that's a recipe for distraction! but oh well its Thursday and all the serious work is done usually before Wednesday. And NO! I did not have any after work activities to attend.

This dress is super comfy and free but still fitted. Can't believe I have had this dress for a while but probably wore it only once or twice. I  now wish I had it in every colour,I would wear every colour every week!
Makes me feel like a real Girly-Girl! Who said Female Engineers couldn't still look Girly in a Man's world?!?

So, I don't know what side of the bed I woke up on but I was obviously not the happy-go-lucky person I normally am cos I happened to forget my makeup kit in my room (ewoooo!)so I thought no one will notice that I have no makeup on; na lie oooo! they noticed. One over-observant oga that passed me on the corridor even asked me that no makeup today or what's wrong, I now said nothing o "keeping it natural mondays" serious consolation for myself. No matter how much guys go on about they like their girls natural (Biggest lie), they still dig our human hair extensions, nicely manicured long nails, long eyelashes and those other things.
Personally im a minimal makeup user anyways because God blessed me with beautiful skin (just saying, the secret use ORI shea butter for maintenance).
On the brighter side, if you strain your eyes well you will see my almost-washboard flat stomach (if you cant see it abeg buy glasses in traffic when next you see those guys selling). So a dark top evens out the stone colour skirt( i think the colour is stone or sometin)....I have glasses already for any1 that has something to say about my colour-vision.

So, I don't get my daily photoshoots at the weekends simply because; my favourite photographer is unavailable and im sure my brother would never be a party to such picture taking sessions.
Im such a Bed-Hugger during the weekends except when I have to attend my leadership program in church every Saturday and church on Sunday (Incase I mentioned im too busy during the weekend, i did not lie oh!). Whenever I have to drag myself out of my bed to anywhere I dont put too much effort with my looks/facial, (bear in my mind im not just sleeping all the time, might be doing some actual work/ reading a motivational book/catching up on my favourite TV shows (im an addict!!!)).
I actually miss my attending weddings fetish every Saturday; always looked forward to rocking my high-heels, clutch bag and some figure hugging clothes (which are now going from events clothes to work clothes).

From next weekend, I would put an effort into my weekend clothing (not just a tee and jeans) and find a willing photographer in my crib so I can actually update a nice picture...Coming soon!

Even though Friday is the day I look forward to in the week, I don't look forward to spending a few hours in this errmmm not pretty outfit, although I don't mind the Jungle boots, in my own opinion they are sexy compared to white tennis shoes some people wear (people would contend this statement).
Having to deal with the LGI is a bit of a Drive-u-Crazy experience we corpers at Eti Osa face every week, but I discovered the way to melt her heart so I make the best of the situation. At least every friday I get to see some of my friends for a bit, before I change out of this immediately I leave the local government office into something reasonable then continue to enjoy whatever my plan for the weekend is (which usually starts with errands/ salon matters on Fridays).

Yayyyy! Its Thursday my last working day thanks to Nysc, so what better day to try something new.
So Colour-Blocking Thursday it is... the comfy dollhouse sandals my colleague gave me (Thanks GG) combined with my (not sure if the colour is beige or brown or not...i might be partially colour blind who knows) trousers and  royal blue top i bought online (thankfully it fits well)...Thank God i did not look like a Rainbow gone wrong....phewww. PS: I still look casual-formal (made up that word btw).

This was Ash wednesday and somehow in my head I thought I should look extra nice (was a bit sceptical if it was too short but if mama didnt complain, no one else should)...Ok I admit; was meant to have a date after work but ermm due to circumstances beyond our control it was cancelled..But I felt really good all day. When you could be having a crappy day you dont know what a nice outfit can do to change it....

There wasn't much of an inspiration but I knew I wanted to wear a skirt so I combined it with a white tank top and short sleeve black jacket to make it look a bit formal and I was good to head to work.

Dressing Like a Lady to Work.

This is totally inspired by my Mentor, who is a very important figure in my life.
Even though I work in an organisation which has a No Dress-code policy in place and I was  used to taking full advantage of that by wearing whatever I like to the office.
The day I popped in to greet my mentor in the office about lunch time since I was around the area. He was shocked to see me dressed like that to the office (I was wearing a long top and footless tights and sandals) this was a Tuesday by the way so there was absolutely no need for Formal wear as far as I was concerned, especially because i am not customer-facing so no one really pays too much attention to your dressing (or so I thought in my head).
He gave me the speech on "Dress how you want to be Addressed" and how your dressing says a lot to the people around you and how they treat you with more respect accordingly. So I made a promise to Always dress properly in an office environment regardless of a dress-code system in place or not and I have to tell you I have felt the difference in  the way people talk to me and add a little bit of respect to me and the constant daily compliments on my dressing i receive and like my toasters have suddenly increased (not that  it was my aim in the 1st place).

So I decided to take a picture everyday at work (Courtesy of my colleague who has a phone camera that works wonders compared to my crappy phone camera & practices his photography skills on me (the Muse))
